The short version

Your videos, images, labels, and projects never leave your Mac. There is no account. We collect thirteen anonymous usage counts and nothing else. We do not track you and we sell nothing to anyone.

Who we are

VidGrid is published by iDO Technologies UAB, V. Nagevičiaus g. 3, Vilnius 08237, Lithuania, supported under our Straw Motion brand. For the limited data described below, we are the data controller under the GDPR. Contact: contact@strawmotion.com

What stays on your Mac

VidGrid reads the videos and images you pick from where they already are on your disk. It never copies them, never uploads them, and never sends us a file, a file name, a folder path, or any label or project name you type. Your library of projects is a database file on your own Mac, and your macOS folder permissions are stored only on your Mac.

We could not hand over your work if we were asked to. We do not have it.

No account, ever

There is no sign-up, no login, no email address, and no password. We do not know who you are.

What we do collect

1. Anonymous usage counts. So we can tell which features are worth improving, VidGrid reports a fixed list of thirteen events — for example "the app was opened", "a project was created", "Play All was used".

Each carries only its own name, plus your macOS version, your language, the app version, and a temporary session number that is randomly generated, held in memory, and discarded when you quit. It is never written to disk and cannot be linked to you, to your device, or to a previous session.

Nothing that identifies you or your work is included, and the app is built so that nothing else can be included: a file name, a web address, or a piece of label text is rejected before it could ever be sent. This is enforced in code, not by policy. This goes to Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service. There is no advertising and no data broker.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding which features are used, balanced against your privacy by collecting nothing that identifies you. Because the data contains no identifier, it cannot be traced back to you at any point.

2. Your subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple handles the payment — we never see your card. To know whether your subscription is active, the app checks with RevenueCat, which receives your purchase record and an anonymous identifier, but nothing that identifies you personally.

Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — we cannot provide a paid app without knowing whether you have paid for it. Retained for as long as your subscription is active, plus the period RevenueCat retains transaction records.

What we never collect

Your name, email address, location, contacts, photos library, browsing history, or any advertising identifier. VidGrid contains no advertising, no attribution SDK, no crash reporter, and no fingerprinting.

Web Tiles

If you put a web page in a tile, your Mac loads that page directly, the same way a browser would. We do not see which page you loaded and we receive nothing from it. That site's own privacy policy applies to you when you load it, and any login you complete there is between you and that site.

Offline by default

Everything except loading a Web Tile and buying or restoring a subscription works with the internet switched off.

Where your data goes

Aptabase and RevenueCat may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. Because neither service receives anything that identifies you, the practical risk to you is minimal.

We do not track you

We do not track you across apps or websites, we do not build profiles, we make no automated decisions about you, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone. VidGrid does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, because it has nothing to track you with.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

In practice there is usually nothing for us to give you: we hold no identifier, so we cannot find "your" data among the anonymous counts. If you have subscribed, write to us and we will help you exercise these rights against the records RevenueCat holds.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly you may complain to your local supervisory authority. Ours is Lithuania's State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija), vdai.lrv.lt.

Children

VidGrid is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
